Track Facts:

  • 2 mile D-shaped asphalt oval – banking in all 4 corners is 14 degrees – banking on the front straight is 11 degrees and banking on the back straight is 3 degrees
  • track opened in 1997 and was originally owned by Roger Penske, it is now owned by International Speedway Corporation
  • built on the site of a WWII era still mill and was known as California Raceway through 2007, when hit became known as Auto Club Speedway
  • other four wheeled race series that have competed at Auto Club Speedway: IROC (International Race of Champions), NASCAR Sprint Cup Series,  NASCAR Nationwide Series, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series,  Grand Am Rolex Sports Car Series, & Indy Lights,
  • the track record of 241.428 mph was set in qualifying for the 2000 Verizon IndyCar Series race by Gil de Ferran
